This mosaic was was created using plastic straws from a collection of over 4,000 that were removed from the Anacostia River in one day. The piece was created to support The Anacostia Watershed Society, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, in raising awareness about the impact of single-use plastics on the environment. The mosaic depicts a vision of the now-polluted river as swimmable and fishable in the foreseeable future.
